Sambhal violence: Three youths killed in riot, internet shut down after stone pelting and arson
Three youths died in the violent riots during the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal. There was heavy stone pelting and arson in the clash between the police and the protesters. The commissioner says that the youths died due to firing from the rooftops, while the family members claim that the deaths were caused by police bullets. To bring the situation under control, internet service has been shut down and heavy deployment of security forces has been done.

Heavy violence broke out on Sunday morning during the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal. Three youths died in this violence. The statements of the administration and the relatives of the deceased are different regarding the cause of death. At the same time, after the incident, the internet has been shut down in the entire city and heavy police force has been deployed in view of security.
What happened?
On Sunday morning at 6:30, the team of DM and SP reached to survey Jama Masjid. There was anger among the local people regarding this survey. Within no time, a crowd of 2-3 thousand people gathered outside the mosque.
The crowd tried to stop the police. Within a short time, the situation became tense and heavy stone pelting started. The police fired tear gas shells and lathicharged to control the situation. Despite this, the protesters became violent and set fire to 3 four-wheelers and 5 bikes.

The families of the deceased claim that they died due to police firing.
Administration statement:
Commissioner Aunjaneya Singh rejected these allegations and said,
"There have been deaths in firing by attackers from rooftops. There have been no deaths in police firing."

Situation under control but tension persists
After the violence, internet services were shut down for 24 hours in the entire city.
All three roads leading to Jama Masjid have been closed with barricades . An undeclared curfew- like situation prevails
in the city .
Policeman also injured
In this clash, CO Anuj Chaudhary and SP's PRO were shot. SP along with 15 other policemen were also injured.
Political rhetoric
Reacting to the incident, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay raised the question, "Why the objection to the survey? If there is no attempt to hide anything, then why the stone pelting?"
Identification of rioters continues
4 trolleys of stones were removed from the roads . Rioters are being identified based on videography
of the incident spot and CCTV footage .
Tension in SP MP's area too
There were also incidents of stone pelting in the area of SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq, which further increased the tension in the city. The situation in Sambhal is currently under control, but strict vigil is being maintained in the entire area.
