The Andhra Pradesh government has announced to start a new chapter by dissolving the Wakf Board. Dissolution of Waqf Board: Important decision of Govt
The Andhra Pradesh government took a major step on Saturday and dissolved the Waqf Board formed by the previous government. State Law and Minority Welfare Minister N. Mohammad Farooq issued an order and informed about it. The government will now constitute a new Waqf Board and implement GO-75, revoking GO-47.
Due to cancellation of GO-47
- Court Petitions: Thirteen writ petitions were filed against GO-47.
- Lack of representation: Scholars from Sunni and Shia communities were not given a place on the board.
- Irregularities in selection: Junior advocates were selected without proper criteria.
- Complaints: S. K. There were many complaints about Khaja's selection as Mutawalli.
- Inactivity: The Board was inactive since March 2023, halting its functioning.
future plans
The government has announced the formation of a new board with the aim of improving the management and operation of the properties of the Waqf Board. The purpose of this change is to make the Waqf Board more transparent and effective.
