The government has implemented four new rules related to Aadhaar card. These include a new format for identifying relationships, improvements in biometric options, extension of the time limit for updates, and limited opportunities for amendments. Iris scanning instead of fingerprint
The government has introduced the option of iris scanning for biometric identification . This is a relief for those whose fingerprints are not clear. Iris scanning is considered safer and more accurate.
The deadline for Aadhaar update has been extended
The deadline for correction of Aadhaar card such as address, name, or date of birth has been extended to 14 December 2024 .

Limited opportunities for revision
Now address in Aadhaar card can be changed only once . This is especially applicable to those who change their address due to marriage or other reasons.
Rules for special states and senior citizens
- Aadhaar linking is not mandatory for residents of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Meghalaya.
- Citizens aged 80 years or above are exempted from Aadhaar linking.
Penalty for Aadhaar-PAN linking
A fine of ₹1000 will now be levied for linking Aadhaar and PAN .
