On Constitution Day, a special program was organized in the Central Hall of the Old Parliament to celebrate the journey of 75 years. In this, President Draupadi Murmu released copies of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili. In this program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi shared a stage for the first time. Also, the process of making the Indian Constitution and its contributors were honored.

Historical celebration of 75th anniversary
On 26 November 2024, a special event was organized in the Central Hall of the old Parliament to mark the completion of 75 years of the Constitution.
- President Draupadi Murmu , Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar , and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed it.
- Theme: “Our Constitution, Our Self-Respect” .
- Copies of the Constitution were issued in Sanskrit and Maithili.
- Two new books released:
- The Making of the Indian Constitution: A Glimpse .
- The making of the Indian Constitution and its glorious journey .
Modi and Rahul on one stage
The special thing about this event was that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi were seen on the same stage for the first time.
- He was accompanied by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge , BJP President JP Nadda , and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju .
- This unique moment became an inspiration for political unity and constitutional values.
Importance of Constitution Day
The Constituent Assembly passed the Constitution on 26 November 1949.
- Date of coming into force: 26 January 1950, to perpetuate the memory of the Purna Swaraj Day of 1930.
- It took 2 years, 11 months and 17 days to prepare the Constitution .
- The original copy contains 1,17,369 words, 444 paragraphs, 22 parts and 12 schedules.
The untold aspects of constitution making
- Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar headed the drafting committee.
- Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada , a calligrapher, wrote the English manuscript of the Constitution in his own hand.
- It took 6 months and 432 nibs to write it.
- The Hindi version was prepared by calligrapher Vasant Krishna Vaidya .
- It has 264 pages and weighs 14 kg.
Combination of art and history in the constitution
The original copy of the Constitution was also painted.
- Artist Nandalal Bose and his team created historical paintings.
- These include historical characters like Ram-Sita , Akbar , and Tipu Sultan .

The President paid tribute to the making of the Constitution and its heroes.
- Appreciated the contribution of 15 women members.
- Mentioned the important role of officers like BN Rao.
- He emphasized the role of the Constitution in creating social justice and a progressive society.
