After the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha ended, a bag of 100 notes of 500 rupees was found on seat number 222 during the security check. This seat belongs to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House and said whether the notes are genuine or fake, it will be clear only after investigation.
Reaction of BJP and Congress
BJP:
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Kiren Rijiju called it a serious matter and demanded a thorough investigation. Rijiju said that in the digital age, it is inappropriate to take notes to Parliament.
Congress:
Congress called it a political conspiracy. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said that till the investigation is completed, no member's name should be taken.
