Shah Rukh Khan Death Threat: Arrest Shocks Bollywood
Last week, Mumbai’s Bandra police station received an alarming call threatening Shah Rukh Khan’s life and demanding ₹50 lakh. The case was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) involving criminal intimidation and extortion. The police quickly tracked the threatening call to a phone number registered to a lawyer in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, named Faizan Khan.
Arrest of Lawyer Faizan Khan
The Mumbai police identified Faizan Khan as the suspect after the call traced back to his phone number. Summoned for questioning, Khan initially failed to appear, which led to his arrest. However, Khan denies involvement, claiming his phone was stolen prior to the threat call.
"My Phone Was Stolen," Khan Claims
Speaking to the media, Faizan Khan insists that his mobile device was stolen on November 2, after which he filed a complaint at the Khamardih police station in Raipur. He believes someone used his lost phone to make the call to Khan’s Bandra residence, suggesting the situation could be a setup aimed at damaging his reputation.
An Old Grievance Against Shah Rukh Khan
Interestingly, Faizan Khan had lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan in the past over a dialogue in Anjaam (1994), objecting to what he described as disrespectful to deer—a symbol the Bishnoi community holds sacred. Although he asserts that this complaint has no relation to the recent threat call, he believes the issue has been used to falsely implicate him.
Police Investigation Ongoing
With Faizan Khan in custody, Mumbai police continue to investigate the case to determine if his claims of conspiracy are valid or if he had a hand in the alleged threat against Shah Rukh Khan. The police are also tracing the origins of the phone used in the threatening call to verify Khan's statements.
