Dangerous journey: From Google Maps to death
On Sunday morning, an accident happened in Faridpur area of Bareilly which shocked everyone. Three people from Farrukhabad were going to attend a wedding. They travelled with the help of Google Maps, but this technical help took them on the wrong path and became the reason for their death.
All three were returning from a family function
35-year-old Vivek Chauhan and 36-year-old Kaushal alias Nitin, residents of village Imadpur Hiramal of police station Merapur in Farrukhabad lived in Delhi. Vivek worked as a guard in Delhi, while Kaushal was an Ola car driver. They were going to Bareilly to attend their relative's wedding. 30-year-old Amit, a resident of Mainpuri, was also on this journey with them.
Trusting Google Maps, we reached the wrong path
A bridge was under construction on the Ramganga between Dataganj in Badaun and Faridpur in Bareilly. The bridge is not yet complete and is closed for the general public. The three used this bridge with the help of Google Map. They were not aware that the bridge was incomplete. While looking for a way, they climbed onto the under-construction bridge with their car.
Night time and incomplete bridge became the cause of death
This accident happened on Sunday morning. Due to the incomplete bridge, the car fell straight into the Ramganga river. All three died on the spot. The villagers who went to the fields in the morning first saw blood flowing and informed about the car falling into the river.
Villagers gave information, police took the dead body in custody
Residents of Allapur village reached the spot and immediately informed the police. Faridpur and Dataganj police reached the spot and controlled the situation. The three bodies were taken out and a Panchnama was filled. The local administration has started investigating the incident.

Reliance on technology took away three lives
This incident highlights the dangerous aspects of blind trust in technology. Google Maps suggested the three to go to a bridge under construction, which led to this accident. This incident has brought into question the dependence on technology and the lack of information of the local administration.
Delays in bridge construction and lack of safety measures
The construction of the bridge on Ramganga has been going on for a long time, but this accident happened due to the lack of safety signs and warning boards. The villagers expressed their displeasure over the negligence of the administration and have demanded to speed up the construction of the bridge.
Police action and further investigation
Faridpur police have sent the bodies for postmortem. The cause of the accident is being investigated in detail. It is also being looked into why adequate warning boards were not installed at the bridge construction site.
