INDC Network : New Delhi : There have been reports of two train accidents in the country. The first accident took place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where 22 coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed. However, no casualties have been reported in this accident. According to the driver, the accident occurred when a boulder hit the engine, causing the train to derail. The second accident took place in Siliguri, West Bengal, where a freight train carrying fuel derailed. The incident took place late night in a private yard in the Siliguri-Ranga Pani area. According to the railways, the incident has no direct connection with the Ministry of Railways.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared the information on the social media platform X and said that at 2:35 am today, the engine of the Sabarmati Express going from Varanasi to Ahmedabad collided with something placed on the track near Kanpur and derailed. He also informed that marks of sharp blows have been found at the spot, and all evidence has been secured. IB and UP Police have become active to investigate the matter. Fortunately, no passenger or staff was injured in the accident. An alternate train has been arranged to ferry passengers to Ahmedabad to ensure their onward journey. The railways have confirmed that train number 19168, Sabarmati Express, derailed in the block section between Kanpur and Bhimsen station. There are no reports of any injuries at the spot, and buses have been provided to transport the passengers to Kanpur.

Giving information about the accident in Ranga Paani area of ​​Siliguri, the railways said that a freight train had also derailed in the same area 15 days ago. Apart from this, in June this year, the Kanchenjunga Express also derailed here, in which many people lost their lives and many were injured. This is the third train accident in Ranga Paani area within two months. The Indian National Congress shared the video of the accident on social media and commented that "Sabarmati Express derailed in Kanpur, UP. There have been 21 rail accidents in 70 days of Modi government, but the government does not care. This is a 'small incident' for the Railway Minister."

Reacting to this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav posted on social media that "The engine of Sabarmati Express (Varanasi to Ahmedabad) hit an object on the track near Kanpur at 02:35 am today and derailed. Sharp impact marks have been found. Evidence has been preserved. IB and UP Police are working on it. There were no injuries to passengers or staff. A train has been arranged to transport the passengers to Ahmedabad for further journey."
