A fire broke out in the Mathura refinery after a terrible explosion on Tuesday night, in which 1 officer and 10 employees were severely burnt. Immediately after the incident, the fire brigade and police team took charge and the injured were rushed to the hospital, out of which the condition of three remains critical. The blast was so strong that its sound was heard far away and there was chaos all around. The accident happened when the startup process was being started after the shutdown. A day before this, a case of blast was also reported in Vadodara refinery of Gujarat.

Major accident at Mathura refinery: Blast and massive fire

Panic spread in the entire area due to a massive explosion in the Mathura refinery in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh at around 8 pm on Tuesday night. This blast took place in the ABU plant of the refinery when the startup activity was going on after the shutdown. During this, a fire broke out due to the bursting of the furniture, in which 10 employees including 1 officer got severely burnt. As soon as the information of the accident was received, the police and fire brigade team reached the spot in a hurry and the work of extinguishing the fire was started.

The sound of the blast was heard far away from the refinery police station area, causing panic in the surrounding areas. After the incident, there was chaos among the employees and officers present in the refinery. People started running out of the ABU plant to save their lives. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the employees immediately informed the officers and the police.


Rescue operation by fire brigade team: 10 workers seriously injured

The fire brigade team tried to control the fire with the help of fire tenders. After controlling the fire a little, some members of the team reached inside the ABU plant and rescued the employees trapped there. The injured were immediately admitted to the Higher Center in Mathura with the help of an ambulance. At the same time, considering the condition of three seriously burnt employees, they have been referred to Delhi for treatment.


Second consecutive refinery accident: A day before, there was a blast in Vadodara refinery too

It is worth noting that this incident at Mathura refinery happened a day after the accident at Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery in Koyali of Vadodara district of Gujarat. There too, a fire broke out after the blast, but luckily the fire was controlled in time and no one was killed. The fire in Vadodara was so terrible that the smoke was visible from several kilometers away.

The consecutive incidents in Mathura and Vadodara have raised serious questions on the safety standards of the refinery.
