Allegations of rigging in by-election
During the voting process of by-elections on 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, allegations of rigging were leveled against the police and administration. Congress leader Pramod Tiwari raised questions on the fairness of the elections and said, "Traditional voters were prevented from voting. This is a very serious matter. The Election Commission should take cognizance."
Akhilesh Yadav demanded the suspension of SHO
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav shared a video and accused the SHO of Kakrauli police station area of Meerapur of intimidating voters. He said that the officer was using a revolver to stop people from voting. Akhilesh demanded the Election Commission to immediately suspend the SHO.

Serious allegation of Chandrashekhar Azad
Chandrashekhar Azad posted a picture of policemen in which they are seen brandishing pistols. He wrote, "The protectors of democracy have bowed down to power, this is extremely shameful." Azad tagged the Election Commission in his post and demanded an investigation into the matter.

Samajwadi Party appeals to workers
Samajwadi Party appealed to the workers to ensure the safety of EVMs after the voting is over. He said, "Keep a vigil till the EVMs reach the strong room. Also, polling agents should get Form 17C (Part-1) from the presiding officer."
Action by the Election Commission
After the opposition's continuous allegations, the Election Commission took immediate cognizance and took action against more than half a dozen police officers. However, the opposition called it inadequate and demanded a fair investigation.
