Vande Bharat Train Attack: Stone Pelting Near Kanpur Endangers MP Chandrashekhar Azad, Sparks National Outcry

INDC Network : Uttar Pradesh : Vande Bharat trains, often touted for their high speed and convenience, are increasingly facing disruptions from stone-pelting incidents. Recently, Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina and leader of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), narrowly escaped injury when stones were hurled at the train he was traveling on. As the train passed through Kamalpur station in Bulandshahr, a sudden impact shattered the window just two seats ahead of him, leaving the passengers shocked and alarmed. Azad, who was traveling from Delhi to Kanpur, immediately took to social media to describe the incident, noting his dismay at the lack of safety measures.

Azad recounted the harrowing details, explaining, "This morning, around 7:12 AM, as the train passed Kamalpur station, some miscreant threw stones at the train. The impact shattered the glass near my seat, endangering passengers and causing substantial damage to government property." Expressing frustration and concern, he called for immediate action by the Railway Ministry and law enforcement, labeling such incidents as a threat not only to passengers but to the country’s reputation as well.

The MP highlighted the alarming rise in stone-pelting cases, sharing a report indicating that over 1,500 similar incidents occurred in 2022, leading to significant financial losses and safety risks. According to the report, these attacks have caused millions in damages to railway property, raising questions about the effectiveness of current security measures on one of India’s premium train services.

Chandrashekhar’s statement has sparked widespread reactions, with many citizens and officials calling for strict penalties and preventive measures. The MP also appealed to parents, schools, and educators to instill awareness in children about the dangers and consequences of such reckless behavior. He stressed the importance of respecting public property, stating, "Our railways are invaluable assets, and it’s the responsibility of every citizen to protect them."

This incident has ignited calls for enhanced safety protocols on the Vande Bharat routes, which have been repeatedly targeted by stone-throwing attacks. Authorities are now considering increased surveillance, stricter laws, and public awareness campaigns to curb these incidents. Many feel that such behavior not only endangers lives but also tarnishes the country’s image and security reputation.

In light of this, Chandrashekhar’s message stands as a reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard public infrastructure. His call for action and awareness emphasizes that while government intervention is essential, community education and vigilance can play a significant role in preventing such acts. Chandrashekhar concluded by urging every citizen to become more conscious of their actions, saying, "Protecting our national assets is not just a governmental duty but a moral and constitutional duty of all citizens."
