INDC Network : Sports : Paris Olympics 2024 : Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem made history by breaking the Olympic record in the men's javelin throw final with an extraordinary distance of 92.97 meters. On Thursday, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan shattered the Olympic record in the men's javelin throw event, etching his name in Olympic history. Nadeem achieved this remarkable feat in the final by throwing an astonishing 92.97 meters, breaking the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters set by Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen. He accomplished this on his second attempt.

Despite a challenging start, during which he had to abandon his first attempt due to a faulty run-up and thus did not record a throw, Nadeem displayed remarkable composure and precision to make the record-breaking throw that stunned the athletics world.

The Pakistani javelin thrower, who won a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships, has been a consistent force on the javelin circuit, and his Olympic record further cements his legacy. His main rival, India's Neeraj Chopra, led the qualification round with an impressive throw of 89.34 meters and later improved it to a season's best of 89.45 meters in the final.
