NCP leader Baba Siddiqui shot dead in Mumbai, two attackers arrested
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra East, Mumbai. Two of the three attackers have been arrested by the police, while the third is absconding. In February this year, Baba Siddiqui had announced to leave the Congress party and join the NCP.

The attack took place outside his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra East, where three assailants opened fire on Baba Siddiqui. After the incident, he was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital, but he was declared dead there.
Mumbai Police has taken action and arrested two attackers. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that one of the arrested attackers is from Uttar Pradesh and the other is from Haryana. Police claim that the third attacker is still absconding, and efforts are on to arrest him.
According to initial reports, the attackers fired three rounds at Baba Siddiqui, following which police and investigation teams reached the spot. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway, the police officer said.
Baba Siddiqui ended his nearly five-decade-long association with the Congress party in February this year and joined the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP. He informed about leaving the Congress through a tweet. Siddiqui was a three-time MLA from Bandra West assembly constituency, but in 2014 he had to face defeat from Ashish Shelar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Siddiqui had also served as Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Labour, Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and Consumer Protection in the Maharashtra government. His murder has created a sensation in Mumbai politics, and the case is being investigated vigorously.
