Mysterious Delhi Rohini Blast: Crude Bomb Suspected, Chemical Smell and Smoke Leave Area on Edge

Although no injuries were reported, the blast sent shockwaves throughout the neighborhood, damaging nearby shops, shattering glass windows, and leaving a parked car heavily damaged. As thick smoke blanketed the area for nearly 20 minutes, a strong "chemical-like" odor was detected by locals, adding to the fear and confusion.

As the city slept, security agencies rushed to the scene. Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and the Delhi Police quickly cordoned off the area. Bomb disposal units scoured the surroundings while forensic experts meticulously combed the blast site. Among the items found was a suspicious white powder, which has been sent to a laboratory for analysis. Authorities also collected soil samples from a hole dug near the school wall to further assist in the investigation.

The political fallout from the explosion has also begun to take shape. Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have been quick to point fingers at the central government, which oversees Delhi’s police force. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in the capital. Sisodia, speaking at a press conference, expressed deep concern over the frequency of such incidents, including a recent shooting in the Welcome area, and questioned the effectiveness of the BJP's handling of the situation.

“The law and order responsibility has been given to the BJP, but incidents like this are occurring continuously,” Sisodia said, lamenting the fear that now grips many of Delhi’s residents.

Despite the growing tension, authorities are urging calm as the investigation continues. The NSG, NIA, and Delhi Police are working together to determine the exact cause of the explosion, while forensic experts analyze the white powder and other materials gathered from the site. With Delhi placed on high alert, residents can expect heightened security and police presence, particularly in the days leading up to Diwali.

For now, the city holds its breath, waiting for answers as investigators piece together the mystery of the Rohini blast.
