Preparations have begun on a large scale for the Kartik Purnima bath and fair in Farrukhabad. The DM has given instructions to make arrangements for barricading, lighting, deployment of divers, and tight security at the ghats. Special arrangements are being made at Panchal Ghat and other ghats for the devotees.

Strong arrangements made to welcome devotees
Preparations for Kartik Purnima bath and fair are in full swing in Farrukhabad. The district administration has ordered to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the safety and convenience of devotees at each ghat. The DM has instructed for barricading, lighting, and deployment of divers at all the ghats to avoid any untoward incident.
Special arrangements for organizing fairs
Instructions have been given for special arrangements during the fair to be held between 12 and 18 November at Dhai Ghat. Along with this, attention has also been paid to the arrangements of lighting, barricading, and leveling for bathing at Atena Ghat and Shringirampur. The administration has given instructions to ensure the availability of boats and boatmen as well as to establish an administrative camp so that immediate assistance can be provided when needed.
Devotees will come from four districts, women police personnel deployed
A large number of devotees are expected to visit Farrukhabad's major Panchal Ghat, who will come from four nearby districts for bathing. The DM has instructed the District Panchayat Raj Officer and Municipal Corporation officials to ensure special arrangements at Panchal Ghat. Apart from this, orders have also been given to deploy women police personnel at the ghats so that the safety of women can be ensured.
- The DM has also directed that all arrangements should be completed before the full moon so that the devotees do not face any kind of trouble.
Why is Kartik Purnima celebrated?
Kartik Purnima is an important festival in Hinduism, which is celebrated on the full moon day of Kartik month. This day is considered very important from religious, spiritual and cultural point of view. According to Hindu beliefs, worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva has special significance on this day. It is also known as Dev Deepawali, because on this day Lord Shiva killed a demon named Tripurasura, due to which the gods celebrated by lighting lamps.
On Kartik Purnima, bathing in Ganga, Yamuna or any holy river has special importance. It is believed that bathing in holy rivers on this day ends all sins and one attains salvation. By lighting lamps on this day, one attains virtue and God can be pleased.
Additionally, this day also marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who was the founder of Sikhism. Kartik Purnima is celebrated with great enthusiasm in various parts of India with fairs, pujas, and religious rituals.
