INDC Network : New Delhi : The Quad group has entered an important phase of integration, and this change will be clearly visible during the summit in Delaware. In this period of global uncertainty, where Israel is fighting Hezbollah and the war in Gaza continues, the four leaders are expected to take decisive steps today for the maintenance of international law and the security of the Indo-Pacific region.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Wilmington, he will be the most senior leader in the Quad. Currently, US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are stepping down, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is preparing to enter the electoral fray. PM Modi will begin his third term, where he has already held talks with two US presidents, two Australian prime ministers and two Japanese prime ministers.

The summit is taking place at a time when the global situation is quite serious. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are rising, while the situation in Gaza is deteriorating and a ceasefire seems unlikely. In addition, the Ukraine conflict appears to be escalating, with the Anglo-Saxon alliance considering giving long-range missiles to Kiev. This has raised concerns about President Vladimir Putin's response, which could lead to a major conflict.

With the Middle East and Central Europe on fire, China is increasing its aggression in the South China Sea. The PLA Navy is making a show of power in Japan's exclusive economic zone with its aircraft carrier task force. In such a situation, the gathering of Quad leaders has become important, showing solidarity for the security of the Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with all Quad leaders in Delaware during his US visit. After this, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Washington to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 28. He will hold talks with several counterparts in New York and then discuss taking bilateral ties forward with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken.

Though the US is scheduled to have presidential elections in November, India is prepared to deal with any new president who comes to the White House in January. There is no major obstacle in the relationship between India and the US, except the case of Khalistani terrorist GS Pannu, who is trying to complicate the matter by making baseless allegations against the Indian government. Pannu himself is trying to promote and threaten radical activities against India.

The Quad group meeting is taking place at a time of global uncertainty, where leaders need to strengthen international cooperation and ensure collective security. Deliberations and decisions on these issues will be important to face the upcoming global challenges.
