RLD's big claim: 'Fake voting in burqa'

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate Mithlesh Pal alleged fake voting in Meerapur assembly constituency and said that outsiders were being brought in to vote. He claimed that armed proxy voters were caught in madrasas and mosques. RLD demanded that voters coming in burqa should be thoroughly checked.


BJP's support and letter to Election Commission

BJP wrote a letter to the Election Commission supporting the allegations of RLD. They said that the identity of women coming to the polling booth wearing burqa should be verified by women officers. BJP claimed that there could be an attempt to fake voting through burqa. They also said that such incidents had come to light in previous elections.

SP's counter-attack: allegations of threats and bias

On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) accused the police and officials of threatening people and preventing them from voting. They said that voters were being intimidated at various polling booths. Targeting the BJP and the Election Commission, the SP said, "Will anyone still believe in the fairness of elections?"
