In the by-elections being held on 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, 31.21% voting was recorded till 1 pm. Ghaziabad recorded the lowest voting at 12.87% and Kundarki recorded the highest at 41.01%. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his leaders alleged that in some areas voters were prevented from voting and their identity cards were checked.

SP MP Lalji Verma had a heated argument with the police in Ambedkar Nagar, after which Verma used harsh words on the policemen. Meanwhile, SP candidate from Majhawan Jyoti Bind complained to the Election Commission that voters are being threatened in her area and their slips are being torn.
